All good things must come to an end, but before we say goodbye, let’s eat, drink and celebrate the 20th annual Lulu’s BBQ!

Lulu’s BBQ is the Dumb Friends League signature summer fundraiser to raise money for the homeless pets and horses in our care. And this year, music sensation Chicago will be on hand to join in the festivities.

Come at 4 p.m. for a pre-gala horse demonstration and tour the facility, and then enjoy an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet barbecue dinner created by James Beard award-winning chef Tom Perini of Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap, Texas, silent and live auctions and a chance to mingle with adorable adoptable pets. (Please note all recommended safety protocols will be followed.)

Did you know that Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six consecutive decades? That’s right! We have no doubt you’ll be singing along with the band as we giddy up into the sunset with our final Lulu’s celebration. With 23 gold, 18 platinum and eight multi-platinum albums, Chicago is one of the best-selling bands of all time. Top 10 singles like “If You Leave Me Now,” “25 or 6 to 4,” “You’re the Inspiration,” “Hard to Say I’m Sorry” and “Saturday in the Park” capture the spirit of this Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band.

Thanks to the generosity of hosts Jana and Fred Bartlit, Lulu’s BBQ raises money to help provide veterinary care, behavior training and other critical services for homeless pets and horses in the League’s care.

Lulu’s BBQ will be a hard habit to break, but we hope you join us for the final celebration on August 21 at the Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center. The event promises to be an unforgettable night, not only for our guests but also for the homeless pets and horses at the Dumb Friends League!
