Step 1. View available pets online
You can use the location sorter if you only want to see pets available at a specific location. Make a list of which pets you’d like to meet (including their ID number), then visit that location as soon as possible. There’s always a possibility that the pet you saw online may have already found a home. The online database updates regularly.
Step 2. Come in for a visit
- Bring your list of pets or view the adoptable pets at the shelter.
- Once you’re ready, join our digital queue (follow the signage). You’ll be added on a first-come, first-served basis. Please join the queue at least one hour before closing to serve you better. Our queue may be closed at other times if we have met our capacity for daily visits.
- When it’s your turn, visit with the pet(s) you want to join your family!
- Please note: we do not allow meetings for any animals besides dog-dog meet and greets due to liability and training purposes.
Our three locations
- Leslie A. Malone Center (Denver)
*NOTE: We offer same-day in-person adoptions at the San Luis Valley Animal Center between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
First come, first served
As of January 29, 2024, we are no longer offering pet adoption appointments. Visit us at any of our three locations where you will be helped on a first come, first served basis.
If you need special accommodation, contact us and we can discuss options.
Step 3. Complete your adoption
- Once your visit is complete, complete the paperwork, pay your adoption fee, and receive your adoption packet.
- Please bring a valid ID with your current address. If your ID does not match your current address, please bring another proof of residence, such as a utility bill or vehicle registration. To adopt, you must provide this information.
- All adoptions will be finalized on the same day as your visit. Take home your new family member!
Our small pets are also available for adoption from these PetSmart locations.
Please check the PetSmart.com for hours of operation.
