SammieDear Dumb Friends League,

Hi, my name is Sammie. I have always wanted to help animals in anyway I can, especially dogs. IN fact, I have two dogs myself, a Golden Retriever named Bumper and an Old English Sheepdog named Mogie. Recently, you send a letter to me asking me for some more information about my business.

Last summer, My Mom and I stopped by The Dumb Friends League to see if we could volunteer to help out. Unfortunately, I had to be 16 years old to help, so I decided to star my own business. It is a dog washing business called "Dirty DogBumper and Mogie No More". All of my friends thought it was a cool idea and some of them sometimes came over to my house to help me wash dogs. I would wash the dogs, take them on walks, brush their bodies, and brush their teeth for only $5.00! ( I got the tooth brushing idea from my mom since she is a dentist.) I would also go to the people's houses and get the gods or they would bring the dogs to me. Each dog customer would get a toothbrush and a biscuit as a thank-you gift. (Here is a hint for brushing dog's teeth: brush with chicken flavored toothpaste, not normal toothpaste because dogs hate mint and they love chicken or beef.) At the end of the summer, when I closed up my business, I made $110.00! I donated 10% of my earnings to The Dumb Friends League.

This summer, I will continue with this business and keep helping animals and donating money to shelter. I have enclosed a poster for my business along with a picture of my dogs and me. When I am 16 years old, I will volunteer to help out at The Dumb Friends League. When I am grown up, I will probably be a veterinarian because that has always been one of my dreams. I will continue to make a difference to the animals and help out in whatever way I can.

If there is anything you need help with, you can let me know. It would be great if you could write back every once in a while to let me know how things are going at the shelter. Good-bye and thank-you.

Yours truly,

Sammie

The Dumb Friends League presented its “Caring Kids” award
We presented our “Caring Kids” award to Jonathon Giron, a 5th grade student at Eagleton Elementary School in Denver, on Wednesday, December 4. Jonathon was recognized for taking in and caring for two stray chickens in his neighborhood, one of which had an injured leg. He and his family cared for the two chickens in their home for approximately a month before they brought them to the Dumb Friends League. We have since found the two chickens a new home.
